It’s only about twenty pages long, but it sure packs a punch within those pages. William Saroyan didn’t think much of Hello Out There. It’s a strange piece that brought us Al Pacino in his first Broadway stage appearance in.

Emily and Photo-Finish fall in love and make plans to go to San Francisco, but their plans are crushed when the men looking for Photo-Finish find him, and kill him. A fellow like me hopping freights all over the country, trying to break his bad luck, going from one poor little town to another, trying to get in on something good somewhere, and she asks for money. The story takes place in a small Texas jail. She is the same lawyer that had been interviewed by said TV host and walked out on him. Saroyan decided to become a writer after his mother showed him some of his ther writings. It’s no good always walking around in the streets for anything that might be there at the time.
